Description
Make early phonics learning fun and engaging with this Easter Themed EYFS Initial Sound Sorting activity, designed to support children in recognising and applying initial sounds. Perfect for Reception and EYFS learners, this hands-on resource aligns with Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds and encourages active participation through play-based learning.
Children are provided with a set of Easter nests, each clearly labelled with a grapheme, alongside a collection of picture eggs. Each nest includes five images of objects that all begin with the same initial sound. Children say each word aloud, listen carefully, and identify the initial sound before sorting the picture into the correct nest. This process supports oral segmenting, careful listening and early phonics development in a meaningful, interactive way.
