They identify the relevant information, write the appropriate calculation, and solve at least six problems. Base 10 equipment is provided to support pupils, particularly when exchanges are needed. An answer sheet is included for teacher reference or self-checking.

The plenary encourages creativity and consolidation. Pupils create their own word problems for a partner to solve, drawing inspiration from images and numbers on the board or coming up with original ideas. This activity reinforces understanding of problem-solving strategies, vocabulary, and the importance of context in calculations.

The lesson also addresses common misconceptions, including:
