Description
Develop logical reasoning and problem-solving skills with this Lunar New Year Themed Year 2 Picture-Based Logic Puzzle. This engaging activity challenges children to think systematically while applying three clear rules to complete a picture grid.
Children must ensure that each picture appears:

Once in each row

Once in each column
-
Once in each box (the smaller 2×2 sub-grids)
To solve the puzzle, children are encouraged to look carefully at the whole grid, checking rows, columns and boxes as they work. They must use logical reasoning to rule out pictures that cannot fit, helping to develop careful thinking, attention to detail and perseverance.
Designed for Year 2 learners, this activity supports children in explaining their thinking using clear reasoning, such as “It can’t go here because there is already one in this row, column or box.” This promotes the use of mathematical language and encourages children to check their work independently to ensure all rules have been followed.
