Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: The starting number is shown in red on each number track, with an arrow pointing to the next number.
- Sheet 2: Core: There are no highlights or arrows, and some starting numbers are written as words. Pupils find the starting number on the track themselves.
- Sheet 3: Extended: Pupils use a symbol key to find the starting number, which may involve adding, subtracting or doubling, then circle 1 more.
