Description

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time

Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.

Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.

Differentiated in three ways

  • Sheet 1: Supported: Pupils write how many tens and ones are on each abacus before writing the number.
  • Sheet 2: Core: Pupils read each abacus and write the number without the tens and ones prompt.
  • Sheet 3: Extended: Pupils read two abacuses and add them together to find the total.
