Spotlight Yr2 Count objects to 100 Draw in base 10
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Help pupils develop a secure understanding of representing two-digit numbers using tens and ones. These differentiated sheets provide focused practice drawing numbers in base 10, moving from supported representations to independently working out and representing numbers from clues. Ideal for targeted intervention, same-day catch-up and pupils who benefit from focused practice.
Description
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: A key shows how to draw tens and ones, and each number is broken into tens and ones for pupils.
- Sheet 2: Core: Pupils draw each number in base 10 without the tens and ones given.
- Sheet 3: Extended: Pupils work out each number first, such as “42 less than 95”, then draw it in base 10.
