Description

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time

Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.

Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.

Differentiated in three ways

  • Sheet 1: Supported: Pupils name numbers to 10 shown as fingers, ten frames, dice, bead strings and cubes. A key of numerals and words is provided.
  • Sheet 2: Core: The counters and cubes are scattered rather than in order, and there is no key.
  • Sheet 3: Extended: Pupils add two representations together, such as fingers and a dice, to find each number.
