Spotlight Yr2 Numbers to 20 Teen numbers
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Help pupils develop a secure understanding of numbers from 11 to 20 by focusing on one skill at a time. These differentiated sheets provide focused practice using ten frames, bead strings and base-10 representations, helping pupils recognise, count and build teen numbers with increasing independence. Ideal for targeted intervention, same-day catch-up and pupils who benefit from focused practice before moving on to mixed questions.
Description
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: Pupils name numbers from 11 to 20 shown in ten frames, on bead strings and in base 10. A key of numerals and words is provided.
- Sheet 2: Core: The counters and cubes are scattered, so pupils must count carefully. There is no key.
- Sheet 3: Extended: Pupils add two representations together, such as a full ten frame and fingers, to make a teen number.
