Description

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time

Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.

Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.

Differentiated in three ways

  • Sheet 1: Supported: Each child has one full ten frame and tells pupils how many counters are on the other, written as a numeral.
  • Sheet 2: Core: The numbers are written as words, and some questions show two full ten frames or an empty one.
  • Sheet 3: Extended: A friend adds or takes away counters, so pupils work out the final number before drawing it.
