Description

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time

Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.

Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.

Differentiated in three ways

  • Sheet 1: Supported: A number key showing numerals and words to 20 is provided. Each track starts with two or three numbers and counts on in ones.
  • Sheet 2: Core: There is no key. The missing numbers are spread through each track, and one track counts back.
  • Sheet 3: Extended: Tracks mix numerals and words, and some start from a clue such as “2 more than 9”. Pupils work out the first number before completing the track.
