Spotlight Yr2 Partition numbers to 100 Draw base 10
Help Year 2 pupils partition two-digit numbers into tens and ones with this focused Spotlight pack. Every question practises one skill: drawing base 10 in the parts of a part-whole model to match the whole.
Differentiated in three ways:
- Sheet 1: Supported: The whole is shown in base 10 and the parts are labelled tens and ones.
- Sheet 2: Core: One part is filled in, so pupils work out and draw the missing part.
- Sheet 3: Extended: The whole has more than 9 ones, so pupils regroup before drawing.
Spotlight Sheets focus on one question type at a time, so pupils can practise with confidence before moving on to mixed questions. Ideal for targeted intervention, same-day catch-up or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach. Answers are included for every sheet.
Description
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: The whole is shown in base 10, and pupils draw the tens and ones in the labelled parts.
- Sheet 2: Core: One part is already filled in, so pupils work out what is missing and draw it in the empty part.
- Sheet 3: Extended: The whole is shown with more than 9 ones. Pupils work out the number, then draw the tens and ones in the parts.
