Spotlight Yr2 Partition numbers to 100 Tick the matching models
Deepen Year 2 pupils’ understanding of partitioning with this focused Spotlight pack. Every question practises one skill: comparing base 10 with four part-whole models and ticking every model that matches.
Differentiated in three ways:
- Sheet 1: Supported: Pupils first write the tens and ones, then tick the matching models.
- Sheet 2: Core: No prompts, including models written as tens, ones and numerals.
- Sheet 3: Extended: The base 10 is described in words with more than 9 ones.
Spotlight Sheets focus on one question type at a time, so pupils can practise with confidence before moving on to mixed questions. Ideal for targeted intervention, same-day catch-up or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach. Answers are included for every sheet.
Description
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: Pupils first write how many tens and ones there are, then tick the matching models.
- Sheet 2: Core: Pupils tick the matching models without the tens and ones prompt, including one with no tens split.
- Sheet 3: Extended: The base 10 is described in words with more than 9 ones. Pupils work out the number before ticking.
