Spotlight Yr2 Place value chart Base 10 in a chart
Help Year 2 pupils read base 10 in a tens and ones place value chart with this focused Spotlight pack. Every question practises one skill: counting the tens and ones shown in the chart, completing “There are __ tens and __ ones” and writing the number.
Differentiated in three ways:
- Sheet 1: Supported: Neat base 10 with a tens number track.
- Sheet 2: Core: Scattered ones and a chart with no ones.
- Sheet 3: Extended: Tens shown with a × sign, such as × 4, to work out first.
Spotlight Sheets focus on one question type at a time, so pupils can practise with confidence before moving on to mixed questions. Ideal for targeted intervention, same-day catch-up or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach. Answers are included for every sheet.
Description
Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time
Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.
Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.
Differentiated in three ways
- Sheet 1: Supported: The tens and ones are set out neatly in each place value chart, and a tens number track is provided.
- Sheet 2: Core: The ones are scattered in the chart, and one chart has no ones, so pupils must count carefully.
- Sheet 3: Extended: One ten is shown with a × sign, such as × 4. Pupils work out the tens, count the ones and find the number.
