Description

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time

Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept.

Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach.

Differentiated in three ways

  • Sheet 1: Supported: The full ten frames are circled and the ones are in order. A tens number track is provided.
  • Sheet 2: Core: The ones are not in order in the last ten frame, so pupils count carefully before completing the sentences.
  • Sheet 3: Extended: Each ten frame is shown once with a × sign, such as × 5. Pupils work out each group, then find the number.
