Description
Bring a seasonal twist to time practice with this engaging spring-themed activity for Year 4 pupils. Designed to help children apply their understanding of time, the resource focuses on solving word problems that involve calculating durations and finding end times. Using familiar spring contexts such as gardening, walks, and school events, pupils practise adding and subtracting time in minutes and hours, consolidating essential skills in a practical, real-life setting.
The activity includes fourteen short problems presented on sticky labels, making it ideal for quick retrieval practice, independent work, or use in a maths station. Pupils can practise converting between hours and minutes, counting forwards and backwards in time, and using strategies such as number lines or clock representations. Answer sheets are provided for teacher reference, and the activity can be easily adapted for differentiation by selecting specific questions, encouraging verbal or written explanations, or extending the task to creating custom spring-themed time problems. Aligned with the Year 4 National Curriculum, this resource makes time practice engaging, meaningful, and seasonally themed.
