This EYFS Maths Assessment Resource is designed to assess Reception children’s understanding of numbers from 1 to 10 in a clear, child-friendly and practical way. Perfect for use during baseline assessments, ongoing formative assessment, or end-of-term reviews, this resource supports teachers in checking key early number skills aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The assessment focuses on three essential number concepts: Number recognition (reading numbers 1–10) Number formation (writing numbers 1–10 correctly) Counting skills (counting objects accurately and matching quantity to numeral) Children are encouraged to demonstrate their understanding through engaging, age-appropriate tasks that reflect early maths learning in Reception classrooms. The resource is ideal for 1:1 assessment, small group work, or independent assessment activities, and provides valuable evidence to support teacher judgement against the Number ELG. This maths assessment resource is especially useful for: EYFS baseline assessments Tracking progress in number development Identifying gaps in counting or number formation Supporting interventions and targeted support Clear, simple tasks make it easy to observe children’s confidence with numbers while keeping assessment low-pressure and developmentally appropriate.
This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
