About this resource

Make spelling practice more engaging with this Lunar New Year themed activity! Children are presented with a series of sentences about Lunar New Year and are asked to complete each sentence using the appropriate spelling word from the list provided. All of the spelling words included in the activity are taken from the Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling list, making this a useful resource for helping children practise important curriculum spellings in a meaningful context. Rather than simply memorising words in isolation, children have the opportunity to see and use each spelling word within a sentence. This helps them develop their understanding of word meaning, vocabulary and context, while also supporting reading comprehension and accurate writing. The Lunar New Year theme provides an interesting and purposeful context for spelling practice and makes this resource a great addition to your classroom during a Lunar New Year topic. The activity could be used as a SPaG task, independent spelling activity, homework task or early finisher activity. It is easy to incorporate into your existing spelling provision and requires minimal preparation. This resource supports children to: Practise Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling words. Apply spelling words in context. Develop vocabulary and understanding of word meanings. Read and complete sentences accurately. Develop comprehension skills. Use spelling knowledge in an engaging Lunar New Year themed activity. A useful and engaging way to help children practise statutory spellings while developing their vocabulary and comprehension skills!Read more

This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
