About this resource

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept. Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach. Differentiated in three ways Sheet 1: Supported: Larger groups of up to nine objects are lined up in rows, one above the other, so pupils can draw lines to match. Sheet 2: Core: The groups are in rows but are not lined up, so pupils must match each object carefully. Sheet 3: Extended: The two groups are mixed together and scattered, so pupils must sort and match the objects before deciding. Please note: Master the Curriculum is an independent resource provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to White Rose Education or White Rose Maths. Our resources are designed to complement the small steps that many schools follow.Read more

What you get, one file

  • PDFActivity

This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Our own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
