Spotlight Y3 Spot the Mistake: Estimating on a Number Line

Spotlight Sheets: focused practice, one question type at a time Within a single small step, pupils often meet a range of question types. For many children this provides valuable challenge. For others, moving between question types can make it harder to secure the underlying concept. Spotlight Sheets address this by isolating one question type at a time. Pupils can practise it with focus, develop fluency and build confidence before moving on to mixed questions. They are well suited to targeted intervention, same-day catch-up, or any pupil who benefits from a more focused approach. Differentiated in three ways Sheet 1: Supported: The lines are marked in 10s, and each child has swapped two digits, such as 209 and 290. Sheet 2: Core: Fewer marks, and mistakes with hundreds as well as tens and ones. Sheet 3: Extended: The number is a calculation, and pupils explain the mistake in words.
