This Year 1 Ready to Progress Maths Assessment Resource has been specifically designed for use as an autumn term baseline assessment, fully aligned with the NCETM Ready to Progress Criteria. Following NCETM guidance, the assessment uses the previous year group’s criteria, focusing on key early mathematics skills to support a smooth transition from EYFS into Year 1. The maths mats have been carefully created using the Early Years strand of the NCETM Ready to Progress framework, giving teachers a clear, structured tool to assess pupils’ strengths and areas for development at the start of the academic year. This baseline assessment provides valuable insight to help inform planning, targeted support and future teaching sequences. The Ready to Progress Maths Mats assess children’s understanding across the six core areas of early mathematics learning: Cardinality and Counting Comparison Composition Pattern Shape and Space Measures Each maths mat includes clear, age-appropriate tasks that allow pupils to demonstrate their mathematical understanding in a practical and accessible way. The resource is ideal for 1:1 assessment, small group work or independent use, and supports teacher judgement in line with the NCETM maths scheme. This Year 1 assessment resource is ideal for: Autumn baseline assessment Identifying gaps following EYFS Informing planning and intervention Supporting progression within the NCETM framework A practical and teacher-friendly assessment tool, these Ready to Progress Maths Mats support confident, informed maths teaching from the very start of Year 1.
This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
