About this resource

Support children to develop their understanding of numbers beyond 10 with this versatile number representations resource. Each number is shown in a variety of different ways, helping children recognise the quantity, explore the composition of teen numbers and develop confidence with counting beyond 10. The different representations encourage children to make connections between numerals and quantities rather than simply recognising a number by sight. This provides valuable opportunities to explore how teen numbers are composed and to develop children's early number sense. The resource can be used in a variety of ways, making it suitable for Early Years and KS1 maths, whole-class teaching, small-group activities, independent learning, continuous provision or practical maths activities. For a hands-on matching activity, laminate the sheets and cut them into individual sections. Children can then match each number card with its different representations. This could be used as an independent maths activity or placed in a tuff tray alongside practical resources, allowing children to build the different representations themselves using counters or other manipulatives. The cards can also be used to: Build a number track Match numerals to different representations Explore the composition of numbers 11–20 Practise counting beyond 10 Develop number recognition Match quantities with numerals Create a practical maths activity in a tuff tray Support discussion about how numbers are made Stick matching representations into maths books as a recording activity Using multiple representations helps children develop a deeper understanding of number and encourages them to recognise that the same number can be represented in different ways. This flexible teen numbers maths resource is ideal for revisiting and reinforcing counting beyond 10, number composition and early place value. This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
