Help children develop their understanding of one more and one less with these engaging and differentiated maths worksheets. Children are encouraged to look at each number and work out the number that comes immediately before and after it, developing their understanding of number order and relationships. A number track is provided at the top of the worksheets to support children who need additional help. This gives children a visual reference they can use to find the number that is one less or one more, helping them develop confidence and independence. There are two worksheets to choose from. One worksheet presents the numbers in order, providing additional structure and support. The second worksheet presents the numbers in a mixed order, providing an additional challenge and encouraging children to apply their understanding independently. The worksheets can also be supported with practical resources. Provide children with counters, cubes or other objects so they can physically build each quantity and find one more or one less before recording their answers. Children can practise: Finding one more than a number Finding one less than a number Recognising numbers before and after a given number Developing understanding of number order Counting forwards and backwards Using a number track as a visual support Developing early number sense Applying number knowledge independently Connecting practical quantities with written numerals The resource is ideal for Early Years and KS1 maths and can be used for independent work, small-group activities, whole-class teaching, maths interventions or as part of continuous provision. The two versions allow you to differentiate the activity according to children's needs. The ordered worksheet provides a helpful starting point for children who are developing their understanding of one more and one less, while the mixed worksheet provides opportunities for children to apply their knowledge in a less predictable format. This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
Our own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
