About this resource

Extend spelling, vocabulary and sentence-writing skills with this Year 6 New Year Themed Wordsearch, a challenging literacy activity designed for Upper KS2 learners and those working at greater depth. This Year 6 wordsearch resource uses the same ambitious vocabulary as the Year 5 version but increases the level of challenge by including a larger grid and more words hidden in backwards directions. This makes it ideal for Year 6 pupils or confident Year 5 learners who require additional stretch. All vocabulary is age-appropriate and carefully selected to support spelling accuracy, word recognition and contextual understanding. To deepen learning, pupils are required to choose four words and write sentences using them, encouraging the application of vocabulary in meaningful contexts and supporting grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. What you get, one file

  • PDFActivity

This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.

★★★ Differentiated three ways
  • Working towardsScaffolded, with the model or the bar already drawn.
  • Working withinThe expected standard for the year group.
  • Greater depthReasoning and explaining, not just more of the same.

Our own system, with the star count repeated in every worksheet header so a child can be handed the right sheet without a word.
