About this resource

Tiger’s Stepping Stones: subitising paths with different sizes. Two path mats from Lesson 3. Tiger can only jump on stones that show 3. On the river path the stones have dots of different sizes. On the woodland path, wooden slices show acorns, conkers, pine cones and leaves. What’s included: • Teacher guide with Development Matters links. • River path mat with dotted stepping stones. • Woodland path mat with acorns, conkers, pine cones and leaves. • 6 cut-out Tiger counters. Ideas for using it: • Guide Tiger: Move Tiger from stone to stone, only landing on 3. Can you reach the other side? • Explain the jump: Ask “How do you know that stone shows 3?” at every step. • Different sizes: Point to a big dot. Is it still only 1? • Woodland path: Use the second mat. Is a big conker still just one conker? Linked to Development Matters (three and four-year-olds): • Fast recognition of up to 3 objects, without having to count them individually (‘subitising’). • Make comparisons between objects relating to size, length, weight and capacity. • Use a wider range of vocabulary. • Use all their senses in hands-on exploration of natural materials. Supplied as a ready-to-print PDF (A4 landscape). Print, laminate and reuse all year.Read more

This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
