About this resource

Oh no! Someone has stolen all the Halloween sweets, and someone has knocked over the witch's cauldron. Who did it? In these two Halloween code breakers for Year 2, children answer eight and six questions, find each answer in the code and write down its letter. The letters are muddled up. In one code breaker there are letters they do not need, and in the other some letters are missing, so children must use reasoning to work out which suspect it is. The code includes numbers close to the real answers, so careful working really matters. What's included: Two code breakers: Who Stole the Sweets? and Who Spilled the Potion? A teacher information page for each code breaker Full answer pages Editable PowerPoint and ready-to-print PDF Skills covered: Adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers 2, 5 and 10 times tables and division facts Halving Place value to 100 Ideal for a Halloween maths lesson, the last week before half term, early finishers, partner work or a spooky starter.Read more
