About this resource

Make place value practice fun with this engaging Bonfire Night themed Year 2 maths activity! Count the Fireworks is designed for children who are developing their understanding of the place value of each digit in a two-digit number. Children use a simple key to work out the total number of fireworks represented in each box. They need to recognise the value of the tens and ones digits and use this information to calculate the total number of fireworks. The activity provides an enjoyable way for children to practise identifying tens and ones in two-digit numbers, while applying their understanding of place value to a fun Bonfire Night context. The final row of boxes provides an additional challenge. Children are given a two-digit number and need to draw the correct number of fireworks to represent it, encouraging them to apply their understanding of place value independently. An answer sheet is included, making this resource quick and easy to check and mark. The combination of counting, using a key and drawing representations provides opportunities for children to demonstrate their understanding in different ways. The final challenge encourages children to move beyond simply calculating an answer and represent a two-digit number themselves, making this a useful activity for developing mathematical reasoning and confidence with place value.Read more

This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
