Make early phonics learning fun and engaging with this Easter Themed EYFS Initial Sound Sorting activity, designed to support children in recognising and applying initial sounds. Perfect for Reception and EYFS learners, this hands-on resource aligns with Phase 2 of Letters and Sounds and encourages active participation through play-based learning. Children are provided with a set of Easter nests, each clearly labelled with a grapheme, alongside a collection of picture eggs. Each nest includes five images of objects that all begin with the same initial sound. Children say each word aloud, listen carefully, and identify the initial sound before sorting the picture into the correct nest. This process supports oral segmenting, careful listening and early phonics development in a meaningful, interactive way. This versatile phonics activity is ideal for whole-class phonics lessons, small group work, continuous provision, independent learning, early intervention or consolidation. In addition to phonics skills, it also promotes vocabulary development, attention and listening, and fine motor skills through hands-on sorting and manipulation. With its bright Easter theme and practical approach, this resource helps make early reading skills engaging and accessible while meeting EYFS curriculum expectations.
This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
