About this resource

Oh no! Someone has stolen all the Halloween sweets, and someone has knocked over the witch's cauldron. Who did it? In these two Halloween picture code breakers for EYFS, children count three small groups of Halloween pictures, write the number and circle the clue with that number. Their three clues, such as a wand, a broom and a cauldron, belong to one of the four suspects, so children use the clues to circle the thief. There is no reading, and an adult can read the short instructions. Extra clues such as a bone and a fish catch any miscounts. What's included: Two picture code breakers: Who Stole the Sweets? and Who Spilled the Potion? A teacher information page for each code breaker Full answer pages Editable PowerPoint and ready-to-print PDF Skills covered: Counting to 6 Recognising and writing numerals Matching a quantity to a numeral Reasoning and talking about clues Ideal for a Halloween maths lesson, the last week before half term, early finishers, partner work or a spooky starter.Read more
