About this resource

Support early reading, phonics and vocabulary development with this Remembrance themed EYFS wordsearch, designed especially for Reception children and younger learners. This simple and accessible activity is ideal for phonics lessons, independent learning, early finishers or quiet classroom activities during a Remembrance-themed topic. The wordsearch features a carefully selected range of Remembrance-related words that are suitable for EYFS learners. The vocabulary has been chosen with younger children in mind, helping them practise recognising and reading familiar words while developing their early spelling and vocabulary skills. Not all of the words are fully decodable using Phase 3 GPCs, so supporting pictures are included to help children identify the vocabulary and complete the activity more independently. The visual prompts make this wordsearch particularly useful for children who are still developing confidence with early reading and word recognition. To keep the activity manageable for Reception children, the wordsearch uses a small grid with a limited number of rows and columns. All words appear horizontally or vertically and in the forward direction, making the activity straightforward for younger learners to navigate without becoming overwhelming. This Remembrance wordsearch can be used as part of a Remembrance Day or poppy-themed lesson, during continuous provision, as a phonics activity, for independent work, or as a useful task for children who finish their main work early. This pack is print and go. Our catalogue does not list an editable copy of it, so none is offered here rather than promising a file nobody has opened. Page counts are not printed either, because we do not publish them and a guessed number is worse than none.
